Andrea Corsi, the winner of “The Wedding of the Year 2012″ Award

Sono sempre stato, o almeno ho sempre cercato di essere, una persona coerente con le mie idee ed ho sempre ritenuto necessaria, per vincere un titolo, un contest o qualunque premio , una buona dose di fortuna. Questo vale per me sia che si vinca o che si perda. Tenevo molto a questo contest, che aggiudicava il primo premio al miglior matrimonio dell’anno ANFM ,un premio che ritengo importante perchè attribuisce valore ad un lavoro completo, alla coerenza descrittiva ed alla capacità di sintesi. Evidentemente la Dea Bendata mi ha ascoltato e mi ha preso con se…Il Matrimonio di Linn e Tommy è stato effettivamente uno splendido matrimonio, questo indipendentemente dalle mie fotografie,  con uno stile vintage anni 20 assolutamente unico ed originale, e ringrazio molto gli sposi per avermi permesso di realizzare questo evento e ringrazio anche la persona di Martina Meozzi, perchè senza il suo apporto probabilmente non sarei mai riuscito a fotografare questo wedding  nella splendida tenuta di Badia di Campolone.Il grande Ansel Adams diceva che “una fotografia non si fa semplicemente con una macchina, ma è il frutto di tutte le immagini che hai visto, di tutti i libri che hai letto, di tutta la musica che hai ascoltato, di tutte le persone che hai amato” e, mi permetto di aggiungere io, di tutte le persone che hai conosciuto; Perchè tutti, nel bene e nel male, ti lasciano qualcosa dentro. Alla luce di questo, la prima persona da ringraziare, la più importante  senza nulla togliere agli altri, è Daniele Vertelli.   Daniele è la persona che ha reso di me un fotografo professionista. Non farei questo lavoro se non avessi conosciuto Daniele.. farei altro, sicuramente senza convinzione, senza gratificazione e senza felicità. Non potrò mai trovare le parole giuste per dirgli grazie, non sarebbero sufficienti. Ringrazio la Giuria di ANFM per aver creduto in me. Ringrazio Marco Miglianti, Presidente di ANFM e persona di rara lealtà e correttezza e non posso che fare i complimenti a tutti i partecipanti al contest, il livello è stato molto alto ed è stato per me un onore parteciparvi indipendentemente dal risultato. Ringrazio Nataly e Stefano, perchè credetemi ragazzi, senza di voi varrei molto molto meno, ed anche se non eravate presenti quel giorno e non avete scattato con me, questo titolo in parte è anche vostro. Ringrazio tutti i fotografi che in passato, e nel presente, hanno ispirato ed ispirano quotidianamente il mio lavoro, prima fra tutti Lelia Scarfiotti, che ancora oggi influenza una buona parte delle mie fotografie, ed Edoardo Agresti, che mi ha fatto capire il vero senso del racconto, la forza della narrazione fotografica. Infine non posso che ringraziare quel giorno, il 17 Febbraio 2007, che ha cambiato la mia vita…senza quella staccata sbagliata, quel guard rail così vicino, non avrei mai avuto la possibilità di vedere le cose così cristalline e nitide, perchè è quando si è obbligati all’immobilità che tutto diventa chiaro. La vita è strana ed a volte un evento inizialmente ritenuto drammatico è, in realtà , la cosa migliore che ti possa capitare. Ringrazio per questo Luigi Ciampalini ed Edoardo Crainz, allora Chirurghi del Policlinico Le Scotte di Siena..per me siete stati, e lo sarete sempre, due Angeli custodi. Ed infine, anche se  non serve dirlo , e nessuno me l’ha chiesto,  un’ulteriore soddisfazione personale è rappresentata dal fatto che tutte le foto presentate al contest “wedding of the year 2012″ sono state realizzate esclusivamente da me, senza utilizzare  foto (peraltro bellissime)  di secondi fotografi o collaboratori. I’ve always been true to my own ideas, or, at least, I’ve tried to be so and I also believe that  luck also plays a part in winning a contest or a prize in general. This is my thought  whether  we win or not . I really cared about this contest of ANFM (National Association Wedding Photographer)  because it prizes  and sets value to  the  best wedding of the year  as a complete work, that is  for its  descriptive cohesion and, at last, its ability to synthesize the entire event. Fortune  evidently  has listened to me and  it also stood close to me. Aside from my pictures, Linn and Tommy’s wedding has been really a great one, all the ceremony was characterized by a 1920’s vintage atmosphere and it has been unique and absolutely amazing and I wish to thank them for the opportunity they gave to me together with Martina Meozzi without whom I couldn’t  have done this wonderful wedding in the amazing Badia di Campoleone Location. A great photographer, Ansel Adams, said: “You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” ;  well, I  just want to add  a little thing to Adams’ quotation  that is :” a picture is also made by all those people you have met in your life because everyone, somehow, leaves  something in our mind.”In the light of what I’ve previously said, the first and maybe the most important person  that I want to mention  among all those who set their  stamp in my life there is Daniele Vertelli; Daniele is the one who made me a professional  photographer . Surely I wouldn’t be a photographer if I didn’t know Daniele maybe today  I’d  do something else and probably without much conviction, gratification and , why not, happiness too.  I have no other words to express  him my gratitude and how much I thank him , simple words won’t be enough. I also thank ANFM jury because they have believed in me, I also thank Marco Miglianti, the President of ANFM and a very fair person; furthermore I want also to give all the members of this contest my compliments because all of them are high-level photographers and it has been an honour for me to take part in it aside from the result. I want  also to express my thanks to Nataly and Stefano because without you two guys..  I wouldn’t be much good and even if you were not with me on that day and you have not taken pictures with me,  this prize is partly yours. I thank you very much all those photographers that both in past and present times inspire me everyday  for my job , first of all, Lelia Scarfiotti who still influences me together with Edoardo Agresti who taught me  the real meaning of telling a story and the power of photographic narration. Last but not least a very special thank to that day of my life, 17th February 2007  , because it changed my life completely; without  that braking point and the guard rail that was so near to me I wouldn’t  ever had the possibility to see things clearly ; life is sometimes quite strange a dramatic event can turn in something good or even in the best thing that could happen to you. For that very special moment of my life I thank Luigi Ciampalini, Edoardo Crainz who work as  surgeons at the General Hospital “Le Scotte” in Siena, believe me, you two  will always be a sort of guardian angels for me. A great satisfaction is also that all the pictures of the winning “wedding of the year” have been taken by myself .
