An Intimate Celebration in the Heart of Val d’Orcia

Giovanna and Andrea chose the quiet elegance of Val d’Orcia for their destination wedding, setting their vows within the warm, authentic atmosphere of Locanda in Tuscany. Surrounded by rolling hills, cypress-lined roads, and golden fields, their day unfolded with a natural rhythm refined yet deeply rooted in the landscape.

As a Locanda in Tuscany wedding photographer, my approach is to document the day with discretion and precision: capturing genuine emotions, subtle gestures, and the unique interplay between light, architecture, and countryside. The stone farmhouse, open courtyards, and panoramic views offered a timeless backdrop, allowing each moment to breathe without forced poses or excess styling.

The result is a visual narrative that reflects the character of the place and the intimacy of the celebration an elegant, honest story shaped by Tuscany itself.

“A wedding wasn’t really our top priority. After more than 10 years together and two amazing daughters, we really didn’t think about formally getting hitched. And then right after the first lockdown, our oldest daughter asked why mamma and babbo weren’t yet married. And just like that, we somehow liked the idea and started planning! We knew it had to be Tuscany – where Andrea was born and raised, and where 50% of Giovanna’s DNA comes from. When we were imagining it, we envisaged a sunset aperitivo and a summer dinner sitting around a long table in the middle of Val d’Orcia. We didn’t check out other locations, we knew what we wanted. Visualizing and planning each component was a fun couple activity and including the girls in some of the details – as well as the mother of the groom, super Jo from @Tuscanpledges – made the whole experience a family effort and project! The day came by fast, and we were all scared away by a summer storm in the middle of the driest summer of all times… but everything turned out to be beyond perfect and we enjoyed every instant and every little detail. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer to help us capturing the most stunning sky we ever saw and to size the moment in time while crystallizing the whole atmosphere around us. The ceremony was incredibly emotional, with warm faces all around us in a stunning setting and with flower arrangements out of this world. The celebration that followed really represented us: it was pure joy to see our friends and family gathered after those pandemic years, and it was the best feeling to look at them chatting in that postcard scenery with cold drinks in their hands while enjoying the best background music. Our vendors were all impeccable, and luckily, we now have superb pictures to look at and remind us of this once in a lifetime event. We created incredible memories for ourselves and for our girls, and we will never stop daydreaming about our special day!” Many thanks to @Daniela Ferrari for her precious help.
